Please don't do it. Just wait and have it done professionally because if you make a mess of things you wont have much of a lip left.

Okay sounds like you havent done much research. You are able to get a clear or skin colored barbell but they are plastic and plastic attracts bacteria faster and so you would be more likely to get an infection. Also if you hit a vain while piercing your lip you can seriously hurt yourself. Your lip isnt a place you want an infection. You need to keep a barbell/ring in your lip for a very long time before you can go even 5 minutes without it in because it will begin sealing shut and will be extremely painful to get the bar back in the hole. Dont use alcohol to clear to piercing site, it dries out the skin and makes it irritated you need proper sanitation. You can get a DIY kit at stores that come with a completely sanitary bell, gloves, disinfectant, needle, and clamp. Your lip with swell alot so even if you can hide it from your parents your lip will be really swollen and maybe slightly bruised looking so normally when you get it pierced you have a really long barbell and have to wait for all the swelling to disapear (4 weeks i believe) before you can put in a shorter bar or ring.

Oh, my gosh - you DON'T!
Do you have any idea how many germs are in your mouth that can infect the piercing site? How very vascular the mucosa of the mouth is - how much it could/would bleed. Have you ever bitten the inside of your mouth - remember how badly it hurt?
And, if your mom won't let you get it pierced by a "professional" what do you think she'll do when you walk out of the bathroom with a reddened swollen bleeding lip with some piece of metal sticking through it???
Your mom's not just some mean kill joy - she cares about you. Listen to her.

If your mom won't let you get your lip pierced at a professional, I'm sure she won't let you Peirce it at home, after all, I'm thinking it's kinda hard to hide a shiny silver lip piercing from your mother. I dunno, I think it's a bad idea for you to Peirce your lip at home. Please don't do this to yourself, it will probably hurt like heck, and it will get infected easily. If it's really what you want, here you go ~

Make the decision based on what you truly want, I'm just saying, a swollen lip, and an angry mother isn't the most enjoyable way to spend your summer.

First, you put the alchohold on your lip then take a knife and start cutting the bottom middle of your lip. once youve cut through, and reached your mouth, then poke the needle in there to make a perfect hole. pour alcohol as you do this. then, put the ring in there and sew your lip together. You might dye from this but at least you got a pierced lip!

I really think you should wait! Dude, if you mess up no one knows what could happen! And, your parents might ground you for life! Ask them if you can get it and give them three good reasons why you should have it done. Otherwise, I would wait. Wait, actually don't do it because it looks like you're a fish with a hook caught in your mouth! Fine be a fishy!

first: at age sixteen, a lip piercing may not look very attractive

second: if your mom says no, best to listen to her cause she wont be happy and it can cause drama

third: its not very safe to do it yourself. you could get an infection, a scar, or hurt yourself

wait two more years, you'll be glad you did

If you don't know what you're doing, you really shouldn't attempt to do it yourself, especially going off of what somebody tells you on the internet. That's not safe and you could really hurt yourself. And, guess what? If your mom wont let you get it done, she won't let you keep it if you do it yourself. Sorry to burst your bubble sweetie, but life's not fair. Try showing her you're responsible and find a compromise. If that doesn't work...2 years will go by before you know it. :D

No matter how careful you think you might be, it's not worth the risk. Wait to have it done by a professional. You don't want to get gangrene or any other infection, believe me.
