The problem here is purpose. What were those ladies purpose in what they were doing? Fun? Pride? Love? Anything? The fact is they demistrate what happens when individuals loss any true purpose for themselves and completely diffuse to a larger group dynamic. When this happens they forgo their purpose for the purpose of the group. And again looking at there group dynamics one could come to the conclusion that all the purpose of the group, was to protect each others personal ego's. To help give them a sense of pride, or self, ourside their own feelings. This is suppose to be a good thing sometimes but these ladies have learned a horriable way of protecting themselves, namly by hurting everyone else. This social dysfunction is also a product of a bigger issue, namly the inability of parents to instill a strong sense of purpose in their childern. To be far and honest this shows us that it doesn't matter if your a poor folk living in a shack or a rich person living in a manison, if you don't raise your kids to be health fully-actualized adults then they'll find someone who does it better. Not much different then the group dynamics that you in see in some street gangs...
