If it is an early 2003 it was the tork converter and you should have had a code on the shift digital display. the tork converter was superside on late 2003 and up. Any way you should have a code on the digital display. I own a 2003 and have a rebuilt transmission. frank1353@yahoo.com

Your vehicle is equipped with a transmission interlock that will not allow you to shift gears unless the brake pedal is pushed. In most cases it is operated by the same switch that operate your brake lights. Are your brake lights working? ...Good Luck...

it sounds like a sun/plantery gear run down. If you have fluid in the tranny, and its not that old. More than likely it is the sun/plantery gear system. You should hear like a loud grinding/humming noise when put the tranny in gear, if so problem solved. I had the same problem on a 2002 silverado and was narrowed down to that.
