I mean, when this stuff happens the nuts come out of the woodwork. Maybe because of all this media coverage? What better way for an attention seeking psycopath to get his face on t.v.?

Suicide in a blaze of glory. Most couldn't care less, some have a message and will do so anyway. Others may decide the time is now while we are watching.

Uhh yeah. You certainly have a grasp on the obvious. However, suggesting that the media is to blame is like suggesting cars are to blame for car accidents. The media is just doing their job so they could feed their families, and if people weren't watching or reading what they were putting out, they would stop printing it. It is kind of like blaming Nabisco for people being fat, because they make candy. Technically, it is right. However, it is legal to sell candy. You would restrict the sales of candy of course, or people could stop buying their crap. Then, the company would go out of business and we would have alot more healthy food on the supermarket shelves. It is really that simple. There are societal issues that must be dealt with, and the press coverage is the wrong battle to pick.

I think that all of the coverage gives these types of people new ideas on how to carry out their own plan.

Yes, it does encourage copycats.
However, the public does need to know what happened.
The media have hyped this event way too much.

You've got a point. But if they don't cover it, there would be cries of censorship.
