I had a "cervical cyst" removed Wednesday and when I talked to my doctor Thursday he said it wasn't a cyst and I won't find out what it is until I go for my 4 week follow up appointment.(I knew it wasn't a cyst but he wouldn't listen...)He sent it to pathology so they can do a biopsy or whatever but now I am wondering what it is that they removed. It was a large round shaped mass on the side of my vaginal wall.Probably about the size of a jawbreaker(candy). There was no fluid in it,it was basically a solid, just squooshy.I tried to look it up but all that comes up is endometrial, cervical, ovarian and uteran cancer. He also did a laparoscopy and a D&C and said there were no signs of endo so we still do not know why I had chronic pelvic pain and irregular bleeding(every 2 weeks w/o birth control).Besides cancer, does anyone have any idea of what this "thing" could have been that they removed?Anyone with some words of help will be appreciated.(I can be quite a worry wort.)Thanks!

My guess is a benign tumor, but I would like some other's opinions as well.

I found an article about uterine fibroids that fits my symptoms. Could a uterine fibroid be on your vaginal wall?

First off, it bothers me that your dr is making you wait 4 weeks for a post-op visit, especially after having a laparoscopy (I've had 4 of them so have a lot of personal experience with them). The reason it bothers me is because if these incisions get infected that means that they aren't healing right. The reason for the two week post-op check is to make sure they are healing right at that point in time.

Second thing, because of the fact that you still have chronic pelvic pain I wanted to let you know that just because the dr didn't see any endo that doesn't necessarily mean that you don't have it. Sometimes drs can miss the endo if it's sitting in areas they don't have a lot of knowledge about when it comes to endo such as behind the uterus for example, or don't recognize all the colors that endometriosis comes in including that of clear which can look a lot like drops of water.

Endometriosis is a very complex disease to treat for many drs who don't have a lot of knowledge in trying to remove it from areas such as the back of the uterus, and the area close to the rectum and ovaries and even bladder for some women or don't know all the colors that endometriosis comes in. To learn more about where endo can go and about how experienced drs can find the endo in most places pls check out: http://www.endocenter.org

As for that mass that he found it's possible that it could just be a functional cyst (they can cause a lot of pain). As for fibroids they are seen more on the uterus but yes they can cause irregular bleeding.

If you can get copies of the pics from your laparoscopy (and yes you have a right to have a copy of those) and would like for me to look at them pls feel free to e-mail me directly.

Pls continue to take it easy while you recover, and in the mean time I would let the dr know that you can't wait 4 weeks to find out the results of the pathology report on this mass is because you are very concerned.
