person above bob is right, kids watch mtv and those songs on mtv have hooks that take up half the song, catchy beats and stupid lyrics, thats the formula for selling pop music to kids. However the crap on mtv is hip hop influenced pop so the kids can listen to pop and think they listening to real hip hop, think they gangsta and on the street and all that bullshit.

underground hip hop is good, but we need to clean up the mainstream, its straight up garbage, i mean we can ignore the garbage, but sooner or later we gonna have a dump on our hand.

However theres hope for mainstream rap, in the summer OB4CL2 and 8 diagrams comes out, if they are anything like the original OB4CL or enter the wu and wu forever then they'll bring it back and put these pop ******* in their place.

If not all this hype about rappers saying the n word, bitches and hoes and al sharpton, oprah and all them will probobly destroy mainstream hip hop. If it gets destroyed we can rebuild it, back to the REAL hip hop it used to be. kinda like purgin the evil out.

MTV is for kids. I was once a kid and believed the hype. Now 20 years old, and can relate more to old r&b, especially jazz, and house music w/ preferably no lyrics :)

Because the rap scene is trash. Get back to old school R&B, or go shoot each other in a parking lot over drugs.
