Fluid has nothing to do with that sound.

You prob. used to hear chirping or sqeeling from that same tire ???

It is either one of two things

a) If you used to hear the earlier noise, then you should have replaced your brake pads then. Now you are grinding the studs from the pads on your drum or rotor and it is going to cost you a few dollar$ to replace them. Get this done as your brakes are on their last legs. Your stopping power is seriously compromised and you will just continue to ruin your brakes further.

b) The wheel bearings in your hub are shot and are rumbling each time you try to stop. Have a friend wiggle the tire for your ... If he can, then the bearings are shot.

Either way you need some immediate work done on the car as either of these is a potentially serious problem just waiting to happen.

good luck

Do I Need Brake Fluid

To check the level of the brake fluid, you need to look at the master cylinder. This is located under the hood directly in front of the driver. It is usually rectangle in shape, a tan, opaque plastic bowl, with a black cover. Make sure when you put the cover back on, you snap all for retaining snaps. If you are to add any brake fluid, make sure you only add DOT 3 brake fluid. It is not hard to find, as it is the industry standard, but there are others. If this intimidates you at all, take your car to the parts store and they will be happy to show you how to check it, as well as answer any other questions you have. One more thing, are you sure the wear indicators on the brake pads are not just rubbing the rotors? They rub before the pads are wore out, but when they are getting close. E-mail me with any more questions you may have.

First of all, it shouldn't go down if there are no leaks...now, you open the hood once a week and check all your fluids, oil, coolant, power steering, automatic transmission fluid, AND brake fluid...

The master cylinder id on the fire wall right in front of the driver, open the cap (it usually unscrews), and look...it should always be full...

Now, you got the brake light ehhh? You'll have to find the wheel thats leaking and have it repaired,,,then bled to recenter the proportional valve so the light goes out...

hi... in most vehicles, when all is ok, no leaks or anything,,,, when brake fluid is low, normally the brake mechanism /piston is all the way forward using all the brake fluid in the reservoir(low level). at this point this is an indication to check the brake pad and replacement if nescessary. and as a rule of thumb, the rotors/drums will also need to be resurfaced. and if the mechanic pushes 'up' the brake fluid back into the reservoir, replace mechanic/shop.

pop the hood and look for the white looking tank, a small one, or a cap that says "brake fluid", but the grinding noise is usually a sign that your brake pads are out, and you need to replace them ASAP, because there is a great chance for brake failure...

Grinding noise has nothing to do with fluid, if you hear a grinding noise it is metal on metal, your pads are worn away.... as soon as you hear the grinding noise, stop and replace the pads.

please listen to all of these answers. Your fluid level will look low right now cuz its all in your lines and calipers because you have no pads left. Live and learn.
It's not that you are a woman like the one guy suggested, you are just uninformed. Now if this happens to you again in the future, well then you will just be an idiot!
Get off your computer, and go get your car fixed.

Check the master cylinder. it should be towards the windshield on the drivers side. when the car is warm it should read near the MAX line. grinding noise shouldnt mean that you need fluid though.

Brake "fluid" is the least of your concerns.

You need new brake pads and rotors.
