The Executive Branch is the most powerful due to the following:
1. The President appoints the Justices of the Supreme Court..
2. The President head the political parties to which the Senators and House of Representative belong.
3. The President can declare Martial Law and could limit the powers of the Judiciary and Legislature.

yeah, checks and balances is supposed to insure that no branch is the most powerful. But, Madison said that the Judicial branch will be the least dangerous so in theory that could mean the least powerful. Ill go with Congress, if you have to choose one.
Congress can override a supreme Court opinion by passing an amendment then having it ratified by the states. They can override a presidential veto as well. So i'd go with the legislative branch if you dont want to put that checks and balances cancels them all out.

Theoretically they are equal.
Current reality is that the Executive branch is most powerful, especially when the Legislative and Judicial branches are dominated by the President's party. 3 Reasons
1) Presidential veto can only be overridden by a 2/3 majority in Congress
2) As Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces the President can activate the US military without officially declaring war. Only Congress (Legislative Branch) can declare war.... and Congress has not officially declared war on either Afghanistan or Iraq.... but effectively we are at war.
3) The President can have the White House chef make grilled cheese sandwiches whenever he would like. THAT'S POWER!!!!

At this point in time there are 3 branches.
The Judicial, Executive and Legislative.
At the present time the Bush Administration as the Executive branch appears to have more power.
1- Attorney General Gonzales is supposed to be the highest law officer in this country. He has proved to me that he cannot to the job as attorney general because he lets his loyalty to George Bush overcome his duty to his sworn oath to the Country. Score 1 for the Executive branch.
2 - George W Bush has terrorized the entire US Military by demoting good Officers who disagreed with him and has been able to find others stupid enough and/or scared enough to agree with him. God help those dumb bastards. Score 2 for the executive branch.
3 - AIPAC has been donating millions of dollars to finance the campaigns of people from both parties. http://aipac.org
Therefore the Legislative branch has been bought and paid for by Israel. The Democrats have just begun to make waves against the executive branch. Time will tell just how hard they can challenge the president without upsetting Israel.

Israel builds a well known military, a well known business base, and feeds their very own human beings whilst installation a democracy interior the midsection east. those activities look lots greater "American" than what the Muslims in Syria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Lebannon, and Saudi Arabia have been doing. it is an rather uncomplicated sell for the Israelis to cutting-edge themselves as much greater able and sane companions interior the midsection east than a people who save a million/2 of their inhabitants in Bee Keeper suits. the U. S. accompanied genteel customs in direction of women persons approximately 3 hundred years in the past, earlier we even prevalent our u . s ., and those traditions look on the way women persons (a million/2 of the midsection East by employing inhabitants) and are repulsed. If Muslim countries taken care of their women persons as equals, accompanied secular democracies, and began employing kind armies fairly of terrorist communities, the U. S. could soften their place on Israel, and Israel could have a harder time merchandising that the midsection east is crammed with a team of barbarians who lack subculture, grace and business capacity. until eventually then, Israel has finding out to purchase shops and severe literacy fees, which do cover extremely some the different ugliness.

None of them are the most powerful. The Constitution set-up our government with three branches so that not any one branch would be more powerful than the other two. One branch legislates, one branch enforces legislation, and the last inteprets legislation. So if you are looking for three reasons why one is more powerful than the other two, you won't find it here.

Executive (or the President) has the power of veto, Congress has more power than the House of Representatives in my opinion although it should be fairly balanced. The United States Presidency has justifiably been referred to as the most powerful office in the world.
