My Father has a Onan genset that stops running when the start button is released. We have replaced the pC board with a known good one. It's getting fuel and generates as long as button is held in. Any help would be appreciated. Plenty of fuel and oil level is correct. Thanks

Oil pressure switch is bad.
There should be a single wire attatched to a round sensor on the side of the engine with a small nut.

Disconnect the wire from the pressure switch just to see if that is the problem.

Don't run it too long without replacing the switch, otherwise you could completely ruin your engine if there realy is no oil pressure.

i own a repair shop and i repaired one of these not long ago on a motor home, you probably have dirt in the carburetor on it,and this will make it not run good,if it has set for a while and not been run ,you,ll have to soak the carburetor in some good parts cleaner and put a rebuild kit in it,i just got done doing my own this way after letting it set for two years, the gas we buy today isn't as good as it use to be,and it wont hold up very well, and creates a varnish in the carburetor, and makes it really hard to keep running, good luck with it hope this helps.

sounds like you have an ignition wire wrong you will need power for the ignition to get spark in the run position and sounds like you only have it in the crank position youll probably need a test light to figure it out
