My professional attire is very conservative; in the past I've only worn the classic black skirt suit. Consequently, I only own black pumps.

Having reccently purchased a navy blue power suit, I don't necesarily want to purchase a new pair of pumps unless I really have to. Can I wear black bumps with a navy skirt suit, or are navy pumps a necessity to go wiht the suit?

I think it depends upon how intensely you match everything in your wardrobe. Do you care that your bag or purse matches or doesn't match your shoes? What sort of blouse are you wearing, color? Is there any edging or trim on your suit? Is it pinstriped or solid? I'd wear the black pumps you own already, maybe a pair that isn't too shiny but still looks classy.

In your line of business can you risk it & get away with a casual Friday look and get a pair of dyed navy blue slides? They are usually less money than actual pumps. Like an open oxford type covering the toes but not covering your heel or the classic maryjane as a slide? Just a springtime suggestion.

Black pumps are fine, I agree with all that have answered so far.

I suppose unless you work somewhere that insists on navy pumps with navy suit, can't guess where that would be, but it probably does exist. If you can make your own choice, black is good.

I would go with getting the navy pumps, unless the certain navy you're wearing is really dark. The black will clash with the color of the skirt. But if your budget doesn't permit, don't go spend the money buying new shoes! Chances are most people won't notice the black shoes anyway.

Black pumps should work out fine with the navy suit unless you really want to splurge on a navy pair.

You must match the heels with the suit for maximum effect. You got the power suit for a reason, right? Don't sell yourself short. Get the shoes to match. But don't forget to complete the outfit with some really silly panties!!

In my view, you need new pumps
Black pumps with a navy suit is like red pumps with a pink suit. Yuck!
You could wear red pumps with your navy suit, but it sounds like you don't have those either.
Get outa all that black girl. You cant be THAT conservative!

having a navy "power" suit and black pumps is like serving filet mignon with tater tots. It looks cheesy and cheap. buy the navy pumps.
