I got a feilders choice in a game the other day and I was just wondering what it would count as.

An at-bat. It's a fielder's choice because another runner was put out while you reached base. You get nothing for being substituted for another runner, and that's essentially what happens. Your batting, on-base and slugging percentages all go down, but it's not the same as an out because you can still come around to score.

Here's an interesting scoring fact about a fielder's choice. If you are facing a pitcher different from the one responsible for the runner ahead of you, and that runner is put out but you're not (that's the definition of a fielder's choice), then you have replaced the previous runner as the responsibility of the previous pitcher. So, if you come around to score, the run that you scor is charged to pitcher A and not to pitcher B. In his first shot at his 300th career win, Don Sutton ended up with a no decision because of that that very situation.

A fielder's choice counts against your batting average like you made an out. If you ground into a fielder's choice in your first at-bat, you are 0-1.

From the MLB rulebook (10.05b1)
(b) The official scorer shall not credit a base hit when a:
(1) runner is forced out by a batted ball, or would have been forced out except for a fielding error.

A Fielder's Choice counts as an out for your batting average.
Getting on base with a Fielder's Choice does not help in your On-Base Percentage. The only positive is that you can still score a run---and that counts just the same.

it is an out. unlike what these clowns said if you are 1-2 and hit into a fielders choice you are now 1-3. If someone scores when you hit into a fielders choice you may or may not be awarded an rbi(it is at the descretion of the official scorer) Such as First and third with one out and you hit ground ball to short and they try to roll two but you beat it out at first you will more than likely be 0-1 with an rbi. But say in same situation shortstop threw home and the catcher dropped the ball but guy would have been out if hadnt been for drop now you are 0-1 with no rbi even though you are on base and the run scored.

It counts as an out. If it were a sacrifice it'd be different. A sacrifice means that you got thrown out at first, but the runners still advanced.

Example of Fielder's Choice: If there are men on first and second, and you hit it to third and the third baseman tags third.

Example of Sacrifice: If there are men on first and second, and you hit it to third and the third baseman throws to first base.

Sac counts like a walk, FC counts as an out.

If you ground into a Fielder's Choice and you was 1-2 before you will be 1-3 after.

For purposes of averages (batting, slugging, OBP), it counts as an out. The reasoning is that the fielder could have gotten you out but chose instead to throw out another runner on your team.

Its like a walk basically. It does not count as a hit, but not as an out. An example if you were 1-2 and you hit a fielders choice, you stay 1-2

It's an out but it ups your on base percentage.
It is not like a walk. Your batting average goes down.

It's treated similar to a walk -- if the batter's result is scored as a fielder's choice, he is credited with one plate appearance (pretty much everything gets counted as plate appearances) but not as an at-bat.
