I think Pete Doherty is a musical genius and yes he takes drugs but so did/do alot of musician. So i think the tabloid press should get off his back and recognise the genius of his music.

yes, pete doherty is a musical genius...just look at his lyrics!!! that`s not just songwriting, that`s poetry!!! i`ve been a fan since i first heard the libertines, & i believe his songwriting is even better now with babyshambles!!! it`s true, he does have a drug problem, i just hope he is able to overcome that & not end up like so many other rock stars before him!!!

The Libertines were great, as is Babyshambles, but I wouldn't classify Pete as a musical genius: not due to his rampant drug use. His work may be leaps and bounds better than what is often cranked out by record companies, but he's certainly not the next John Lennon or Jimi Hendrix.
Personally, I'd like to see if he could achieve that level of greatness. Maybe he ought to give sobriety a shot.
