Hyena's don't actually laugh. Their barks and growls just sound like laughter.

I think I remember watching a TV show, and it was about Hyenas whom had recently killed something, and were calling other's in it's pack to the meal, or something like that. I can't remember exactly. Maybe you can try the wikipedia to find more information on this? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyena

They aren't laughing in the sense of humans laughing. Their growls/barks may sound like laughing, but they have no sense of humor and would rather eat you than share a joke.

hyenas sound like they're laughing when they pant because like dogs(they're both canines) they have no sweat glands and pant instead.
