Yeah the Falcons obviously agree with you that's why they traded Schaub and kept Vick. However Schaub isn't bad, he probably won't ever become a great QB in the league but he does show some potential. He is in for a rude awakening in Houston though, they have given up more sacks then anyone the past couple of years. There is alot of hype for Schaub because he came off the bench and played so well against the Patriots in 05, but if the Patriots had time to scout Schaub before the game it would have been much different. And this is coming from a notorious Patriot hater.

I'm not 100% sure he'll be so good...especially in Houston. But the guy has a solid arm and great accuracy along with being decently mobile. The pick round means absolutely nothing, I hope you realize that at least (Tom Brady if you want an example) but still...I might risk Schaub over Vick simply because we've seen what Vick can do...and it's not very good as far as QBs go, Schaub on the other hand, we have seen little of, but what we saw...potential. Now I doubt he'll be a Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, or Carson Palmer kind of QB...but he's good enough for Houston.

I am not 100% sold on Matt Schaub as being a bonafide quality NFL starter myself. Not only for the reasons you stated, he is going to be running for his life in Houston like David Carr did when he was a Texan. Schaub has the tools to be an OK quarterback, but unless the the Texan front office figures out that they need an O-line, you are going to have the same results. If not worse.

Matt 1) has great pocket presence, 2) performed well against the Pat's defense, 3) has flashed a lot of potential during the preseason, 4) has nice accuracy, 5) he'll be a lot more developed than David Carr was.

we will have to see if hes a good QB or bad QB.
they say he performed well against the pats defense. well where the pats prepared for him??? every QB plays different and until they see him play and the potential he has. it might take 2 or 3 games and he will be playing games running for his life.
carr took a beating and so will schaub. how he handles it will decide.

because he actually could pass the ball unlike vick. the balls made it to the receivers. i still dont think he'll do good in houston though cause the OL is the worst in the nfl. the falcons line is so much better compared to the texans.

he had a good game vs the pats in 2005 and he is better suited for a west coast offense in his pocket passer style.
