The way you mean it, it means like a summary.
Here's the more complex description:
Abstraction is the process of generalization by reducing the information content of a concept or an observable phenomenon, typically in order to retain only information which is relevant for a particular purpose. For example, abstracting a leather soccer ball to a ball retains only the information on general ball attributes and behaviour. Similarly, abstracting happiness to an emotional state reduces the amount of information conveyed about the emotional state.

I wouldn't be able to quite give an abstract for such a problem, since by definition, an abstract is a comprehensive summary of your project.
In the Philippines, specifically in La Salle Green Hills, select students embark on a year-long project called the Experimental Research Design, wherein they are to experiment on a certain topic under the Science of their year level curriculum, and come up with a report and defend it at the end of the year.
Part of the report is the Abstract, which is supposed to contain a few exact results, an overview of the experiment, and why/what motivated you to do such an experiment. For us, this section is limited to two hundred to two hundred fifty words.

An abstract in a report is like a summary that usually comes at the beginning of the report or paper. It is very common for journal articles to come with an abstract. It allows you to know what the basic points of an article or paper are before you read it.
