I used the patches & gum also nicorette & used that for a couple of weeks then switched to ordinary pk chewing gum & truly i nealy got hooked on it lol
but seriously you need to want to quit
at first when the craving poped into my head often i just said to myself i dont smoke any more!!
& it only lasted a short time
& i truly think its all the self talk you do to yourself is what makes the difference
I love the fact also all the extra money i have now, & i often buy clothes etc & i hardly ever cough & only then with a cold
you need to be proud of yourself for quiting also, the chemist told me to stay on the patches longer than the 3 months which i did & i even cut the patch into 4 & had less & each week been 9 months now since i quit & i still get an urge some days but i wont give in because i love it so much not smoking
good luck & keep it up

I don't smoke but do something that occupies your time instead of putting death in your mouth. Take a drive, paint a picture, or spend time with friends or family. Also just think if you want to smoke think about all the deaths people have because of cigarettes.

My smoking habits dated way back when I was a teenager. After for somewhat 30 yrs. I quit smoking without classes or patch.. This is how I did it.
1) Make up your mind to quit smoking.and feel great.! Get rid of this expensive addiction. The bottom line: The health benefits of quitting far exceed any risks from the weight gain that may follow quitting.
2) Quit cold turkey.
3) There is no need to use the patch. My husband tried that. He became quite ansy because the patch kept delivering nicotine even in minute doses while sleeping.
4) Decide on a date to quit. Don't buy cigarettes by the cartons. Say this is the last time I'm smoking. Refrain from buying anymore cigarettes.
5) Don't make it a habit to smoke in the car or the house. Your drapes, and entire house as well as your hair and face will be smoke-free.and smell better. Get rid of all ashtrays and lighters and matches.
6) Smoke in a very inconvenient place like the garage.
7) Try to quit together with your spouse or your friends.
8) Remember, that smoking is bad for you health as well as it causes wrinkles around the mouth.
9) It was sometimes, in 2004 when I quit smoking. I asked myself what am I doing to myself. The cigarette tasted terrible. Around that time the adult -onset asthma I had was also very bad. Now I can breathe better and have had no more asthmatic attacks and sore thoarts. I feel a lot better. Of course, initially; i gained weight. But after adjusting the way I eat and what I eat because of IBS; my weight is back to normal.

Research has shown that these five steps will help you to quit for good:
1) Pick a date to stop smoking. Before that day, get rid of all cigarettes, ashtrays, and lighters everywhere you smoke. Do not allow anyone to smoke in your home. Write down why you want to quit and keep this list as a reminder
.
2) Get support from your family, friends, and coworkers. Studies have shown you will be more likely to quit if you have help. Let the people important to you know the date you will be quitting and ask them for their support. Ask them not to smoke around you or leave cigarettes out.
3) Find substitutes for smoking and vary your routine. When you get the urge to smoke, do something to take your mind off smoking. Talk to a friend, go for a walk, or go to the movies. Reduce stress with exercise, meditation, hot baths, or reading. Try sugar-free gum or candy to help handle your cravings. Drink lots of water and juices. You might want to try changing your daily routine as well. Try drinking tea instead of coffee, eating your breakfast in a different place, or taking a different route to work.
4) Talk to your doctor or nurse about medicines to help you quit. Some people have withdrawal symptoms when they quit smoking. These symptoms can include depression, trouble sleeping, feeling irritable or restless, and trouble thinking clearly. There are medicines to help relieve these symptoms. Most medicines help you quit smoking by giving you small, steady doses of nicotine, the drug in cigarettes that causes addiction. Talk to your doctor or nurse to see if one of these medicines may be right for you:
__nicotine patch: worn on the skin and supplies a steady __amount of nicotine to the body through the skin
----nicotine gum or lozenge: releases nicotine into the
bloodstream through the lining in your mouth
nicotine nasal spray: inhaled through your nose and passes into your bloodstream
nicotine inhaler: inhaled through the mouth and absorbed in the mouth and throat
bupropion: an antidepressant medicine that reduces nicotine withdrawal symptoms and the urge to smoke
varenicline (Chantix™): a medicine that reduces nicotine withdrawal symptoms and the pleasurable effects of smoking
5) Be prepared for relapse. Most people relapse, or start smoking again, within the first three months after quitting. Don't get discouraged if you relapse. Remember, many people try to quit several times before quitting for good. Think of what helped and didn't help the last time you tried to quit. Figuring these out before you try to quit again will increase your chances for success. Certain situations can increase your chances of smoking. These include drinking alcohol, being around other smokers, gaining weight, stress, or becoming depressed. Talk to your doctor or nurse for ways to cope with these situations.

1. Possibility of Cancer
2. Yellow Teeth
3. You stink after a smoke
4. Breathing problems
5. It is more harmful to others in my society
For all those reasons (and many more) are what you have to think about in order for you to stop smoking. What effects does it have on your body as well as others.
