Well Scotland as a country has never been conquared. In fact when the Normans captured England and then Wales.William the Conquerer realised if legions of romans had to build a wall(Hadrian's Wall)to keep the scots out. Then it was of little value to go past the wall. However the scots invited the normans to enter the lowlands of Scotland provided William recognised the scots king.Even when William had The Doomsday Book made it only reffered to everything south of the wall.Later when Edward 1 controlled many castles in Scotland he did'nt control much of the east and none of the highlands. When Robert Bruce defeated the english at Bannockburn he then went on to capture all the english strongholds in Scotland. The last battle fought in britain was the 1745 rebellion.Which resulted in the defeat of the Jacobites at Culloden Moor(Scotland)This battle was between british forces and insurgents. So technically Scotland has never been conquered

No Scotland has never been conquered, a country is only conquered when the people have surrendered, the Scots have never surrendered and never will so long as a 100 men are still fighting. The Scots have been invaded and occupied but because of Guerilla warfare like we see in Afghanistan they were not conquered.
Also the Normans stayed clear of Scotland for a few reasons, first they remembered how the Scots butchered the Vikings on Orkney, also Hadrians wall was yet another reminder to stay clear. Also a Norman Princess was married to a Scottish King and Scottish architecture incorporated Norman Architecture into their buildings which flattered the Normans.
The battle of Culloden was won by the British Army against the Jacobites because the British Army had Scottish soldiers from south Scotland in their army (who better to beat the Scots than other Scots)
Do not pay attention to the movie Braveheart because it is filled with historical inaccuracies

Scotland has never been conquered. To conquer a nation means invasion, occupy settlements, then, when the people stop fighting and politics hands itself over, conquering of the nation sets in. That never happened in Scotland. England invaded, occupied some settlement, but was always met in the battlefield by an army of Scots, Scotland also still had political influence and a monarchy. Since England, and many before, failed to break the spirit of the people, and take over politics, and get rid of the Scottish monarchy to have the English monarchy take over, they failed to conquer Scotland, and were driven out, not once, but twice. Although in the Second war the English king was only prepared to accept Scotland as it's own nation if Scotland paid them a ramson in installments, so many was paid off but then the Scots stopped. Nothing happened afterwards. The Act of Union in 1707 was not England 'conquering' Scotland, it was two independent Kingdoms agreeing to unify into one Kingdom, the Kingdom that we now know as the United Kingdom. The last battle on British soil was in 1745 in Culloden (Scotland) where the Jacobites (A rebellion mainly consisting of Scottish Clansmen) fought against the British Army, it was not a Scotland v England battle as many confuse it to be.

In the bits they DON`T show in Braveheart the English conquered Scotland.King Edward I (Patrick Magee in Braveheart) was known as "The Hammer Of The Scots" because until the "battle" at Stirling Castle the English were the dominant force in Scotland.Only later under Wallace (Mel Gibson) did the Scots begin to claw back their country culminating in the epic battle at Bannockburn where King David The Bruce (Dougray Scott) turned the tide and defeated the more numerous English forces under King Edward II.

Scotland, Alba or caledonia, has on no account been conquered. Many have tried, the Vikings invaded yet have been defeated via the crafty use of panorama and a few interior of reach fishermen, finally we are given the possession rights to Orkney and Shetland isles and granted the call of lord of the isles, now this call is owned via prince Charles. The Romans tried a swell yet we are savaged via the Picts and that they finally gave up and outfitted Hadrian's wall to maintain the Picts from invading their land (England), the scuffling with seized and the Romans began paying for and promoting products with the southern Picts yet we are getting massacred via the Northern Picts. They outfitted yet another wall further north in Scotland to end the Northern Picts interrupting the paying for and promoting yet this proved under ineffective as they now had enemies from the two components and as a effect they retreated. Assuming you have all considered Braveheart then i want say not extra different than for SCOTLAND replaced into on no account INVADED, England replaced into... many cases...... :)

That is how the British took control of Scotland originally I believe. The movie Braveheart takes place long after this during one of the attempts to regain independence.

scotland has been overrun by invaders many times. The original cromagnon inhabitants were displaced by Picts and then Vogins and then Scotti; then Vikings (then the romans tried and failed) then the english; several times. The genetic mix is diverse: scots are anything from tall and blond to short and dark.

The English will never permit others to breath freely.
They wanted to be Boss of the Nations as well as their own People. With that thirst only they had captured the half portion of the Globe.

My knowledge of histroy is a bit ropey on this one, but I do know that the Scottish king had to pay dues to Edward l (Hammer of the Scots) as his liege lord.
Incidentally, I was mystified by Konfaziu's anti English rant. He should try answering the question.

Yes, and the English displaced the Scotts into Ireland to keep down the backlash in both countries.
