Depending on the size of the truck, you'd do well to start with getting your CDL - commercial driver's license. While you're at it, research the cost of liability insurance. Third, determine if you want short delivery work or long distance.

Buy a truck or van and find work with a company. Depending on the company you could be an employee or IC. I would work for a company for a few years before you go out and buy a semi tractor. Your best bet would be lease a large moving van and sign on with a company that does furniture deliveries to people's homes. Independent truckers have one of the highest failure rates of any small business.
