In no particular order:
Pink Floyd: probably one of the best songwriting groups ever. Some of their stuff from Dark Side of the Moon was a little overrated but their other stuff for the most part is absolutely great. Their early stuff with Syd was fantastic and their first stuff with David Gilmour was probably some of the best stuff they ever put out. "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" is easily one of the most underrated songs of all time, it's a true tribute to Pink Floyd's simplicity of their early works and still shows how they were able to come up with some great music. After The Wall they kind of died down a little bit but their Divsion Bell tour (recorded as the P*U*L*S*E box set) was easily one of the greatest single-band tours of all time.
Motörhead: one of the greatest live acts of all time. All I can say about their mosh pits: leave about 100 hospital beds open at the nearest place. The fans go balistic when classics like "Bomber", "Killed By Death", "Whorehouse Blues" and (of course) "Ace of Spades" come on. Their recent stuff is a real tribute to modern civilization and what it can do to some people. Also, Lemmy has been ranked as one of the most recognizable people of music of all time by several sources. They've been characters for over 3 decades and that's something that almost no other band can say.
Santana: more or less a combination of Pink Floyd and Motörhead, Carlos and his group really have a lot going for them. Their studio work is totally scrutinized before it is deemed fit for a CD. Their live shows are incredible with each musician receiving proper recognition, each with his own solo during some part of the show. Some of these solos can last for 20 minutes more like classic Clapton in his days with Cream. But for every single musician to do something like that is absolutely amazing. Ben Rietveld can go for half an hour on a solo on his 6 stringed bass and creates some incredible bass harmonics. During his drum solo, Dennis Chambers just goes nuts with it. Everyone leaves the stage for almost 20 minutes as he lashes out at his set. The lights show is also really great and it's said that the smaller the venue the better they'll be.
Eric Johnson: a rare perfectionist, Eric has utilized his whims to masterpiece 3 main studio albums with some other lesser-known ones plus an absolutely amazing live album. His best known work is "Cliffs of Dover", a song that can last for over 10 minutes when performed live. Other well-known works of his include "Desert Rose", "SRV" (a tribute to another great musician), "Forty Mile Town" and "Zap". His solos are complete hand-crafted and his unreleased work is absolutely amazing as well. There's this superb video of his in an interview where he goes over so much and he's able to play so many styles. I personally think that he is the most overall talented guitar player out there.
Rise Against: combining modern songwriting and hard-line sound modulation, Rise Against is able to put on some great live shows while attacking anything they want to with their work. "Life Less Frightening" is easily one of their most political works along with "State of the Union", both from their 2004 album Siren Song of the Counter Culture. Their other works like "Give It All", "Like the Angel", "Ready to Fall" (a song about their involvement with PETA and animal activists as clearly shown by the music video) and "Heaven Knows". If there's a modern Rock band that could lead a massive revolt of some sort it'd easily be these guys.
