get DVDs of the kind of dance you want to learn.
and follow the DVDs. Also just turn on music and let your body move and you will slowly discover how to dance on your own.

If you want to become a great dancer, practise, practise and more practise! Professionals train 6+hours a day! (That gives you an idea of what kinda work goes into it!)

Some great resources are: music videos, DVDs, and youtube. Youtube's good but the video quality is poor. DVD's are better, you can rewind, pause and slow mo, also the extras give you a great behind the scenes. Good luck and above all enjoy dancing!!!

Some great artists (completely ignoring their personal lives or even their 'cheesy' image lol, these people have got top choreographers working with them!):

Aaliyah (My personal fave)- almost all her music videos have great dance

Ciara- she's great mover too

J Lo/Britney/Whitney (sometimes)

Justin Timberlake (and NSYNC)

Madonna/Mary J Blige

Nelly Furtado (not a dancer herself but her backing dancers do a great job)

Missy (she's got some great backing dancers)

Omarion/B2K

Sean Paul (kinda)

Most rnb/pop artists (especially the Americans) have got great dance work in them but the above are some of my personal faves

You can see most of their stuff on MTV/Freeview channels The Hits/TMF or online at YOUTUBE -just do a search

Some dance movies:

Rize/Honey/Save Last Dance/Bring It On/Step Up/Stomp The Yard/You Got Served

Whilst they make it look easy, what they achieve is absolutely amazing- they all train for hours (on the movies, they usually have the Making Of on the DVDs and they show you the work that went in)

Watching basic instructional videos may make you feel a little less uncomfortable and self-conscious. But eventually, you'll have to go to a studio. It's really about how you connect with another person in front of you--there are specific things about pressure and connection you just can't learn from watching a video.
