French were smart enough to get out of their colony Vietnam before they got caught up in a 10 year war in which over 50,000 of their troops died like the US military did when they took over for the French in Vietnam. Or would it have been better if the French had stayed in Vietnam in a bloody 10 year war that couldn't be won? See sometimes cutting your losses is a good thing because it saves lives espeically if you've been fighting for 4 years & you can't stop a few thousand camel jockeys w/ 150,000 of your own troops.
