Today we killed at least 6 snakes, and a few from before. I think there are more. They have nested in my wall (see pictures below) and I'm afraid they will continue to lay eggs and reproducing. If anyone could help me...
1. Find the number for Animal Control in Chicago, IL
2. Any tips for getting rid of these snakes
3. Identify these snakes - are they poisonous? (it may be hard to tell from the picture)
4. How to prevent snakes from coming back
5. Anything else I should know about

Please, and thank you (I have very serious ophidiophobia, fear of snakes)

P.S. they are very big, I would say the biggest we killed was at least a few feet long

If this is in the real world? Quit drinking?

What's that supposed to mean. I'm 15. And I'm researching the question for my parents.

From the pictures, they look like gray rat snakes or chicken snakes as we in Texas call them. If this is what they are, they are not poisonous but they can start to stink! Do a search for Animal Control near Chicago, IL and yahoo should list the offices with the address and phone numbers. Animal Control should be able to tell you how to get rid of them and give advice on keeping them gone. One thing I know they'll tell you to do is plug up that hole where they are in the picture. That's how they get in your walls, from holes and cracks on the exterior. I've read that ferrets kill snakes but you probable don't want that either since you said you don't want a cat. At least you're probably not seeing many rats! (also try and search "gray rat snake" and see if the results look like what you have. It's hard to tell from your pictures but you should be able to tell since you've seen them first hand)

in basic terms so that you recognize black snakes are not any more poisonous. even if, those may no longer be black snakes. genuinely they could no longer also be children. the instantly ahead Ring Snake is not any more beneficial than a typical pencil. The different function is a skinny yellow stripe in the back of their heads. If it truly is what you've they don't seem contained in the walls. they're sufficiently small to get in on their lonesome via small crack and openings. they're there for food and protect. The prey on small insects like crickets, roaches, and different small insects. The moth ball element will paintings, yet you are able to also attempt doing away with insects contained in the area with a fog or spray. without food they're going to be compelled to leave on their lonesome. I actually have had those little men contained in the basement at my own residence, so i recognize what you're dealing with.

Yes, I think they are garter snakes and they are harmless unless you step on one and have a stroke. We have them in our yard and I had one brush against my foot while taking out the trash. It was laying on the edge of our garage just about dusk. Just keep killing them is all I know. I know, I know, some will say, oh they eat mice.....I'm not petrified of a mouse....scared to death of snakes. They are hard to get rid of when in the wall. Good luck!

Equipped with your photos you should head to the nearest "Animal control" office to ask for help. They must have answers or at least have another control source for you to contact.

I wish you luck - you must be pretty brave to get that close to take pictures of them.
