that backup battery recomended replacement of smoke detectors is about 6 yrs
when I install smoke detectors I get non battery backup for all the rooms and one with the battery backup for the hall. 6 will run off that one battery if the power fails.

Being a Property Manager, we run into this situation a lot. If changing the battery doesn't work , install a new smoke detector.

the battery does need replacing, however you may need to reset the alarms after doing so. just push in the test button and wait until ALL alarms sound. the one you are testing will sound first, usually 3 beeps, then the rest will sound off. that should take care of the problem. by the way, while you are at it, you may as well replace the other batteries as well, since they are at the end of their life span. good luck!

The previous suggestions are good except having an electrician look at it. The cost of a replacement is much less than the cost of an electrician.

yes the back up battery needs to be changed try that first if that doesn't work have a electrician look at it,more then likely it is the battery

It could be the battery, or dust could be clogging it. Take the head down and blow a strong puff of air through it.
