I know I'm going to get bashers, etc, so please all who answer, report them. Why do we pass a law and not adhere to it? LGBT are being discriminated against because of a misinterpretation of the bible. Therefore they are not given the same rights as everyone else. I thought this was supposed to be a country of freedom & Separation of Church and State. Instead, we are ALL forced to adhere to standards written by men 2,000 years ago. Why hasn't anyone actually acted on this ruling? Why is the discrimination continuing, when the only basis for it is Religion? (Same goes for scientific research, but thats another forum) I feel truly stupid, not knowing why this is being done, and I seriously would like to know why you think this is happening.

Because there's no such actual words written in our Constitution. Seriously, it's not actually there.
It's only IMPLIED. Yes, in some cases the IMPLIED separation has indeed been upheld, but not nearly often enough or consistently enough.
It seems it's only upheld when there's an agenda that benefits law makers pockets in some way.
Everyone is still free to worship or not, in whatever way they feel suits them. BUT, I do see the fundamentalists forcing their agenda into our government. There was actually a recruiting video made by Jerry Falwell that told entire congregations how to infiltrate local government to forward the "religious-right's" agenda.
I think if we want to combat this restrictive fundamentalist movement, we would have to do the same among our more liberal and supportive groups.

I wondered about this many times as well. I just think it is an ignorant majority trying to find a way to discriminate against a group of people that they fear and do not understand. It is not enforced because of political red tape. Even if we had an agnostic or atheist president things would not change because we have too many people in congress and in the supreme court who impose their own personal ignorant beliefs on the rest of this country.
Interestingly enough, this country that runs off the doggone bible shrugs its shoulders at its religous leaders who are pedophiles.....disgusting.

The constitution clearly states congress shall pass no law baring respect to an organization of religion or barring the free practice thereof. If this is true how can it be legal for churches to be lobbying congress for anything but ensuring there freedom to worship within there congregation.I say if you want this to end you have to be willing to sue a church for lobbying congress outside its constitution rights. This Isn't just an lgbt thing.

not sure what you incredibly need. If it extremely is the fallacy that the form says everywhere that there is a separation of church and state it extremely is already been general as nonexistent. If it extremely is to proceed the atheist time table that this usa replaced into no longer shaped via Christians that has additionally been disproved. each and every individual in this usa christian, Muslim, atheist, Hindu, Buddhist and another achieveable religious association lives via the christian code and ethic. How, you ask? Our rules have been made via adult males and those adult males used their very own ethics based generally on christian religious values and additionally you abide via them on an conventional basis. no count the rant or how somebody rails against it those are info we are ruled via christian regulation merely as this usa replaced into per christian techniques.

first; i think you should find out what the seperation of church and state means. simply put, it states that unlike england that has an official religion, the united states of america will have no official religion, and that everyone is free to worship as they please as long as it doesn't infringe on anyone else. that is it. so if you are offended by saying a prayer in school then you have the right to not say a prayer in school or stay in the room while the prayer is being said. instead, some smart *** lawyer had prayer taken completely out of school. now all the people that want to pray, are no longer allowed. so who's rights are violated?? everyone except the athiest.

because the majority of people do not currently agree with that law, so they avoid punishing those who do not adhere to it. also, if someone were punished for such a thing, then there would be a public outrage. the world(or at least america) just isnt ready to take a big stand for GLBT citizens.

I understand that 'separation of Church and State' was actually written by Thomas Jefferson to a group of Baptist ministers.
So I think that the libs are playing it as if it were a part of the Bill of Rights or the Constitution. When it's not.

Everyone is treated equally in this country. No one is preventing a gay person from getting married. Everyone has the same restrictions.
Our gvmt treats people differently, but equally. People who earn more are taxed at a different rate. No one thinks this is unfair. If everyone were treated equally, we would have just one tax bracket.
You can choose to place the blame at the church, but I think you're misguided. If it were just the church, then liberal states would allow gay marriage but they don't. The best they do is second class status of 'civil unions'. Even in Massachusetts, the liberals have a veto proof majority in the legislator, but they rather let the voters overturn the courts decision when they vote in 2008.
