Can hostas come up throught small pea gravel? The pea gravel is only about 1/2 inches big.?

it all depends on how thick the gravel is,if its between 1-2 inches you should be fine,but just in case if you know where the plants are located just pull the gravel off the top until they start to come up then put it back around the plants

Hostas seem to come up thru anything!!

Yes, believe it or not, but this is true, I had my driveway black topped, they came up through it, they are very hardy plants, I would suggest diggin them out.
