I don't think it's a very good idea at all. My best friend dated a guy when she was 14 that was 18 and he wanted a mature relationship than she was ready to handle. Even though there are only a few years between them, and after high school that seems to be ok, the age gaps in high school (13-18) have major maturity level differences. I don't think the 13 year old would be able to handle the relationship that the 17 year old would because the 17 year old has been around relationships more (I would think).

I think that this not a good choice because a 13 year old and a 17 are not on the same mind state mentally a 17 year old is thinking of the next time that they are going to get some and a 13 year old is thinking is she going to make till the 8th grade

No way.
13 is really young. 17, the person is ready for a serious relationship.
Think of it, at the age of 14, then the other person would be 18. That's illegal. And if the couple has sex, then that is considered as molesting. The 18 year-old can go to jail for that.
It's not a thing to do. They really should avoid it at all costs.

Yes, if the girl is 13 and the boy is 17... the other way around would be too odd. Girls tend to be more mature at a younger age. There might be some minor issues because of the age gap, but not necessarily too bad. Depends on the couple. My husband is 8 years older than me, but we didn't start dating until I was 19, but still.
Also, I don't think any sex oughta be involved at that age... I used to think differently about it, but luckily happened to not ever have sex with anyone other than my husband, and now I'm happy I didn't... it's great to not have to compare him to anyone else. He's the best. :)

General rule of thumb is half the age of the oldest plus 7.
This caps 17 at 15.5. This may be conservative, but I wouldnt want a 17yr old with younger than 15.
Your life experiences at those ages is v. far apart.
At 13, some girls have yet to start periods while at 17 you could be one or two years off going to college

It depends. I mean if they really like each other no matter what you say they're going to hook-up. It might be better for you to say yes and know about everything or for them to rebel and get into a bad situation. But if the 17 yr old is to mature then you have to say no.

In my opinion 13 is to young to date at all.
At 13 you should be going out with lots of friends and family and enjoying life, not worrying about relationships.
If you where 18 and he 22, or 17 and he 21, there wouldn't be a problem, you would both be of similar maturity and old enough to make informed decisions.
At 13, I know you feel grown up enough to make decisions about boys and your life. The fact is you don't have enough life experience.
Boys of 17 will properly want more out of this relationship than holding hands and a few kisses at the movies.
Girls at 13 have all these romantic ideas and could get themselves into a lot of trouble.
So please, don't be in a hurry to grow up, enjoy being a kid, you will be an adult a long time.
Take care.

No in a year the 17 year old will be 18 and it would be considered statutory rape.
Plus, what in the world would a 17 and 13 year old have in common, besides no common sense.

No Way No how, I would not allow it because a 13 year old is not mature enough and a 17 year old boy usually only had one agenda. Need I spell it out, what can I say many boys this age are scum. Don't allow it. Not all teenage boys are sex crazy but many are and only want to score, and it don't matter who they hurt for the sake of a notch on their belt. Don't ever allow it.

No, I think there is a big maturity difference there. Not saying that 17 is mature, but 13 is very immature. You will not have much in common. Try to find someone your own age. Like no more than 2 years.
