I was wondering if there is a reason why it is advised to start growing plants from in a small pot versus starting the seeds in a large pot.

I'm growing seeds in not so small pots and they are doing fine.

I think a reason to grow them in tiny pots might be to grow them separately (one seed per tiny pot). Because if they are put all together in a large pot, then you will have to separate them later and that might be difficult and even bad for the plant because it could cause the roots to break (since they will have entangled by growing together).

If your intention is to separate the seedlings when they grow, then it is probably best if you grow the seeds separately and for space-saving reasons it is more convenient to grow them in tiny pots.

If you do not intend to separate the seedlings when they grow, then you can sow them together in a large container. They will grow just fine. Mines are.

Most people grow many plants at one time, so, to save space and potting medium, small containers are used.
