I've heard that you can buy a chip & supposedly install it quite easily, so that you can play other games on it. Can anyone tell me if this is true & how i would go about it please!

Don't bother, getting it chipped allows you to play copied games.
Pirate copies, but these copied games, are not as good as the original.
Like in grand theft auto three, buildings not appearing till after you have crashed into them.. that copied game went straight in the bin. and the real game got bought
getting your ps2 chipped may stop it playing ps1 games.
the copied games are of lower quality, and often look odd or fuzzy.
Ps2 games are coming down in price since the arrival of the ps3. save your money, buy the real games,
DON'T DO IT!!!!

I haven't heard about the PS2 I have one in my PS1 though and it was great all I had to do was rent a game and burn it, until the company got smart and added new securities to prevent it from playing the new copied games then it was worthless, because i could no longer play copied games but the new software recognized that I had a chip and I couldn't plat the originals either. My friend did mine at the time though good luck

It is not worth your time and money you would be better off buying another game system so you can play the games plus it is illegal you can find it on the black market

you're able to deliver it in to sony, i had this challenge too, My ps2 would not examine blue discs. you're able to call sony and deliver it in and get a referbished one. it value round 30$-60$

uhh my brother got a chip for his ps2 and he said that its amazing and like you can install things really fast. so i guess so yeah

You cant do that cuzz some games on the xbox have programs that ps2 will not run and my friend tried it and he got a disk read error every time he put it in. sorry bout your luck.

true indeed ... some Asian shops will do that for you, keep in mind that is illegal !
