I believe the easiest and most cost effective way to increase your hard drive capacity is to buy an external hard drive that is just plugged into you computer via the USB.20 cable, and you're on your way. Also, the hard drive can be used as a large flash drive to transport larger files from one computer to the other relatively easily. This option would not be possible with an internal hard drive.

you can add any size of hardrive that you want, all you eed to make sure of is if is a PATA or SATA

PATA is the fat ribbon connectors
SATA is the new small wire connectors

As for the opperating system, you shouldn't put an os on it if it is new. into your bios and format it. (may sure that you don't format the one you have else you lose everything)
If it is used and you have stuff on it, the OS on the one you are using will be used and the "new" ones will just become storage space.

Another oppion if your old one is to small is to ransfer all the files to the new one using the windows installer cd. The program will walk you through it.

Chances are you have a PATA drive if you're worried about adding another hard drive. If such is the case, you're going to have to check jumper settings when you install it. They can either be set to master or slave and it does matter. The computer does all kinds of odd stuff if you set it up wrong.

Also, once you get it installed correctly, if you have XP Pro, you can set up a dynamic disk. It's like taking your new hard drive and adding it to the first one. A rather neat concept.

No, you can add any size as long as you have a spare connection inside, plus room for the drive, if you are not PC literate, then use an external USB hard drive instead.

It can be any size supported by your motherboard, and you can have whatever data you like on it!
