I am American and I love soccer, it is my favorite sport. Most men think soccer is easy, and it doesn't take much talent. So pretty much, people don't realize how hard it is to do well at playing soccer. It takes much more stamina than in football and baseball. I played soccer for 9 years. America is obsessed with watching Sunday/Monday night football drinking there beer and sitting on their *sses. Oops, sorry not everyone is like that, just the majority of them lol.

Well if I'm not mistaken Mexicans DO like Soccer or Futbol. So unless North America has disowned Mexico(honestly I wouldn't really miss it if we did, be a nice Continent with just the U.S. and Canada) it is hard to say North America doesn't like soccer. I'm not sure what Canada's opinion of the sport is, although I think they are too busy with Hockey to CARE about soccer, and hockey is a better sport in my opinion. As to the U.S. we don't like soccer because it is too boring. Cut the field in half or so and we might take some intrest.

Soccer is probably the fifth most popular team sport in North America after Baseball, Football, Basketball, and Hockey. Popular sports are generally those people grew up playing, watching on TV, and attending in person. Canadian love Hockey; Mexicans love soccer. But the US prefers Baseball, Basketball, and Football because those are the sports we grew up with and understand. School schedules are set up for Football in the fall, Basketball in the winter, and Baseball in the spring & summer.

Today's youth are learning Soccer at a very young age, and its popularity will grow accordingly. But Hockey and Soccer are not very good sports to watch on TV, and until they adapt well to TV they will remain the 4th & 5th sports in the US.

I can't watch a sport where they run around for hours and only score 1 goal. It's like watching baseball. Granted, soccer players are in top physical shape and are probably some of the best athletes out there, It's just a boring sport to watch in my opinion.

I played soccer for 10 years and loved it for a time

that is untill i played football and now i can't even stand to look at a soccer ball. We don't like soccer cause theres not enough scoring, and not enough contact. I know a lot of kids that love playing the sport, but watching these pros cry everytime they fall down, its rediculous.

Soccer is played in America up to about age 16 then it loses interest. Most American adults that play soccer are from someplace else. There is not enough scoring in soccer and very boring to watch. I have literally sat down and TRIED to get interested and it just don't work for me.

In Canada, we love our hockey, and basketball, although somewhat less. In the US, they love their baseball, hockey, football and basketball.
Baseball doesn't seem nearly as popular as it was in the '90's though. That is just what I've seen from observation anyway.
What I'm trying to say is that we still love other sports and soccer is still greatly loved here. Many teams are here, and lots of people play in their spare time. It's just that other sports are more popular.
