I am based in the uk, and i do have do get letters of consent. If i cant record a conversation, how about a questionnaire?

I wasnt sure if a questionnaire would be susbstantial as i have to carry out a linguistic analysis of how people talk, and i dont know how i would do that in a questionnaire.

I don't think that's even legal. Recording conversations without people's knowledge is against the law.

Hi. No. not legally without the conversant's knowledge. That would violate civil rights in the US. On the other hand, the government is starting to put microphones on surveillance cameras. Go figure!
