Easy. Money is probably the number 1 cause of marital fights and has contributed to many divorces. If both cant agree on financial matters then what else cant they agree on. Marriages/families need money to operate on so it is considered the basis of any family life. So both must agree on how its earned, spent, whose responsible for what marital debt, etc. If there is financial compatability within a marriage, then there is less chance for fights.

when you are poor, all you think about is how to get money, how meet the ends,so how can you concentrate on your marriage if you are actually stressed out?
and limited finances don't leave you a lot of choices how and where to spend quality time together to create pleasant memories, which are very important for keeping your marriage fresh.
On the oher hand, you can see a lot of rich couples who still get divirced, regardless of the amount of money the have.
So,it depends,no clear answer.

without it...you will always argue over money. who makes more..who should pay more bills.. etc.

i go thru it now making more money than my guy. its always an issue...even at tax time. he will argue all year long about it.
