I have read that, in a general view most readers are more interested to know about what "he" and "she" did than what "i" did. Adding ur own experience may add significance to ur paper and may make it personal too. But, if possible do try to narrate it from a third person point of view.

I would include personal experience.
You can state the facts and then say "Its been my experience...." to tie it together.
