I have to store it outside and would like to protect it from the rain.

yes they do.........I purchased mine at walmart for about $10. Lowes, Home Depot, Value city........most every place.
PS. type in 'lawnmower covers' in the search engine all kinds of them

Use a big round plastic laundry container to cover up the main engine or a regular tarp would cover it up as well.

Yep, lowe's and home depot have some. If not, I'm sure you can order one from the manufacturer of the mower you purchased.

I have never seen one, but a cover for a BBq is about the right size, pretty cheap and will do the job!
