IMO, I'd say go to community college and then later transfer. It'll prepare the transition to a 4 yr. university. At least, that's what I'm doing.
If you don't want to go from school to school, you can skip all of that, and apply to the university college of your choice.

This question is personal for me, I don't know about Florida specifically... in California (where I live) I had not yet graduated high-school or received my GED and I got in to community college, went from there to a 4 year State college and now have a doctorate. Don't give up, even if you have to do Community College first... it can be a great opportunity to explore different majors for cheaper than spending 5 (or 6!) years at a 4 year university because of changing majors halfway through!

Two Words, Community College.
I am currently at a community college paying 2/3's the price and getting the same credit that will transfer.
To answer the question, depending on the school, most schools accept GED's

not unless it is an open admisstion 4 year college
go to a comunity college and then transfer after 2 years it will save you money and get you the same degree but do your research to be sure the credits will carry over

absolutely. they may have you take placement tests or sat's but there is no reason you can not get into a 4 years college. get those applications in!
