no life is what you make it ,right or wrong ,you follow your own path to where ever that leads you ,good or bad, to open that envelope you would miss out on so many experiences ....yesterdays history....today's a mystery ...tomorrows a whole new beginning.......

I would definitely be tempted. But doesn't knowing your future ruin the whole point of living. If you knew what was going to happen, you could either change the mistakes you made, or do nothing differently, if you were happy with the results. Although it seems like an easy question to answer i think it is a good thing we won't ever have to decide if we want to open the envelope holding our future. I would read the book all about my life up to this point, then read the letter about my future.

Yes, humans have a habit of messing things up all the time, so one more thing would not go a miss, besides it may help you to make the right decisions so then your life would probably be more stable rather than up and down.

I always thought growing up that I'd rather not know what was coming for me, just leave it all up to fate what happens in my life

But now I'm near 30 and married with kids so at this point in life I'd love to open it up and find out what else there is

Yes I would read it. However, depending on what it said I would not let anyone know if it contained bad news, but would instead tell everyone that 'My future was bright; My future was Orange'

Oh yes, I'm the great pretender.

Yes, I'd open it. Then I'd go about trying to change the things I didn't like about my future. That way I could know for certain if things are preordained or if we mere mortals have free will.

My future would need a dirty big box wrapped in brown paper, never mind an envelope.
And no, I wouldn't open it - unless there was any money in there.

I would be tempted to open it of course since it contains the answers that I'm looking for. However fear alone would stop me from opening it. I'd fear that it might now be what I wanted to see...so something like that should be destroyed.
