heh..
well i've spent upwards of $1000 (i believe it was this lovely white valentino bag i lugged around everywhere for a while) on handbags, and my most expensive pair of shoes are near $1000 (i honestly dont remember the brand, but it was this gorgeous pair of strappy dress sandals in this silver and black).
the point is that tailor what you spend on accessories on what you can afford to spend. i just have well-off parents who find such items affordable and normal for their lifestyle. if spending $1000 on a bag means scrimping on neccessities, then try for a $300 (or maybe even $100) one. they serve the same functions, really. save extravagance for when you have money to throw around.

i have one purse that i use, that i got as a gift from my aunt. my most expensive shoes would have to be about $20 that i bought for a wedding and ive only worn them a couple times. i, personally, would not pay more than $20 for a purse. just think about it- a purse costing $20 and one costing $100 serve the same purpose, so why pay 80 more dollars?

If the purse or shoe is something nice, and practical you should invest in it. I have paid about $50 on a purse, and 30 on shoes. But i bargain shop butr if i want something expensive i just beg my parents.

kate spade handbag that cost me like 370$!!!!!!!! and shoes - i think my most expensive pair are like 150. my hype it totally purses not shoes. i mean think about it. on the purse you can usually see the brand, and unless ppl thoroughly examine your feet and spend their days memorizing the designer catalogs, they're not gonna kno it ur shoes are 100 bucks or 1000 bucks =D

If you can afford it without having to cut back elsewhere then it's not too much. If you can't, or you have to put it on credit then it probably is. BUT if you really, really want it you may want to say to hell with that and buy it anyway!
