I'm only 22 but I have an extreme fear of dying. It's not that I'm worried how I will die, its more like I cannot imagine ever waking up. I know that life is based on being born and dying but it's a scary thought for me. I've already set aside plans to be buried above ground in an above ground structure called a Mausoleum. It's kind of like a little house. The reason for this is b/c once I do die (even though I know that I will not know whether or not I'm underground) is b/c I am scared of being buried underground. I know this sounds weird but does anyone else have this feeling?

I do concentrate and enjoy living, that's why it bothers me so much to know that one day I'm going to die and that I would be put underground if I didn't make these arrangements to be buried in an above ground structure. I also feel some regret of having children (I have two and one on the way due in 1 week) b/c I'm afraid that my fears will wear off on them and I don't want them to be as scared as I am, or the chance that they could die before me or I could die before them. I may only be 22 but I feel like anyone could die at any time, in any way. Pretty much w/ how bad the world is, and how bad my health is even at my age I have a long list of health prob's, I'm scared of dying young as well as dying old.

It sounds like you don't really believe what you say you believe. Instead of fixating on death, why not concentrate on its remedy...?

I'm scared of dying every day. It's a fact that the older you get ( and with some of my health problems) it can occur anytime. i dont think I've wasted my life but I wish I had been a better person. Death bothers me because I dont feel worthy of heaven. I've seen my share of it and handled a fair amount of it.Very few people are ready for it. I think the trick is to not let the fear of dying take over your life or make you " freeze up" and not function. I think the best thing to do is be thankful for everything on a daily basis, including loved ones, family, wonderful times in life and even simple things like a new recipe or new friends. Now all I gotta do is listen to my own advice.

No, I have absolutely no fear of dying. My husband died five years ago and I understand what it's like now. There truly is nothing to be afraid of. My only fear is that I won't have a chance to do all the things I still want to do before I go. As far as I'm concerned, you should be MUCH more concerned with living a good, fulfilling life than with dying. Think about it.

Wow, you have put a lot of thought into this. Like you said, the only guarantee in this life is death. Don't be afraid of being underground, your soul will live on, it is only the shell. But reality, your 22, worry about going out and having fun! Enjoy everyday that is given to you.

Im not worried about dying anymore. I accept that I will die someday. Think of it like going to sleep. You won't even know that your dead.
I believe that *life after death* will be like a dream. When our physical bodies die and orgrans shut down, there is still about 6-12 minutes of brain activity (thats what we can measure so far). You could technically have many many more lifetimes, as one dream minute is like 10 000 concious minutes.
Youre scared of being underground when you die probably because you have a fear of it now. Fear is only exsistant in the physical mind. Once its gone, you will no longer have emotions, so try not to think too much about it.
If its really controlling your life, I suggest you get professional help.

These are natural fears. You've made the best plans you could for yourself, and now, you should be at peace with it. For the same reason, I am going to be cremated and my remains will be buried in a peaceful cemetery in my hometown.
