As for THE mod band, The Who. Check out their rock opera "Quadrophenia", It's all about the conflicts between the Mods and the Rockers in swingin' London in the 60's.

The anthemic Mod song would probably be "My Generation". It has everything that that mods were famous for. Drugs (the stuttering is meant to mimic a person on amphetamines, Mod's drug of choice) contempt for everything old ("I hope I die before I get old" pretty much sums it up) and a fierce pride for their own generation ("Don't try to dig what we all say", and constantly reffering to "us" as in "his generation")

i'd have to say 1965's "my generation" by the who. the who were the ultimate mod band even though john and rog were originally rockers. pete was the face mod though. dressed nice, friendly, but had a very mean spirit at times. even though his first guitar smash was purely accidental, it later on became a trademark of his mod rage.
