The earlob is less painfull because it is made of more fatty tissues, the cartilage is compressed and can take longer to heal. I think that it depends on your perception of pain, I have had many different peircings and i think that my belly button was a little more painful then most of the others, but not to where I couldn't handle it. When I got the second hole on my ear done I didn't think that it really hurt at all. Think about it how it is.....it's a needle going through your ear, if that sounds painful to you then it will probably feel painful but if you are just like meh whatever then you will be fine....I think it's more of a mental thing.

i had mine done at 13 and then again at 16. no needle just a "earring gun" DON'T LOOK AT THE GUN not even once. Otherwise you'll imagine it hurting more then it really will.
Having it done doesn't hurt. There is a fast loud sound and then dull throbbing for a few hours. It can hurt when you turn the earring or put the drops on over the next couple of days, but it hurts less then an ant bite, so not so bad. it's worth it.

look, i have a personal way of piercing my ear lobs, and i've done this to many many peope, including myself (i have 14 earings just in my left ear, i mean ALL OVER the ear). First get a medicinal earing, streight, not curved, just like the ones used on an ear gun. Rub your ear lobe with an ice cube until it gets really cold, then immediately rub it with a little salt. It has an amazing anaesthetic effct, you won't feel a thing, and the just push your earring onto your lobe. It will enter if you push hard enough, and you won't feel a thing, it's just like you're doing it to someone else:). However you have to wash the salt with a little water afterwards, because it can hurt when the anaesthetic effect vanishes. Don't remove the earing for a couple of days.

You will feel a pinch as soon as they pierce the lobe, but it goes away as quick as it came, then thats it. However, you will still feel some pain for a week or two whenever you take the stud in and out to clean it. Also, when i did mine, i used to twist it every half hour or so so it wouldn't crust over and that hurts a little, But don't worry, it's not bad at all.

Are you getting it done with needle or gun? I had mine with a gun. It hurt a lot for 10 seconds. After it's a little sore and red.
After it's done your glad you got it done. After it will hurt but it's worth it! you get to wear earing now! But not for a while, just about 5 weeks. Good Luck!

Have them pierce both ears at the same time. It doesn't really hurt - just a quick stick. The sound might be the worst part but it is all over before you can blink. Good luck!!

Okay.. I got mine done when i was 13. and YES it hurt for me. especially becuase my lady who did them pierced them EXTRAAAA SLOWWW. and one by one. have them done both at the same time and like punched into like by a milisecond. after you get it pierced it feels like hot! and they kinda sting but, when they say leave them in for 6 weeks do it!!!! i was stubborn and wanted to change them into hoops after the 2nd week. i took out the earring and my hole ALMOST closed up in that same minute. also.. the earing might not even want to go back in! so i nearly REPIERCED my own ear and got this weird feeling to my body that i had to lay down for a while and my face turned pale! yeah.. just do what i said and you'll be fine :]

Your having it done w/ a needle? Have it done w/ the gun - not much pain, more of a startle - ear lobe will feel hot for a little while
