When you are younger lets say teens and twenties, you are going to experience a few friendships that are convenient at best. After those so called friends crap on you enough times your true friends will come out. Your true friends will not be afraid to tell you when you are screwing up and when you are down and out they will at least try to cheer you up.

to me a true friend is someone who is always there to support and listen to you. no matter how busy they may be, or how bad their own lives may be at the moment. and visa versa. you have to be there for them too. you know the type of person who say they are there but then some how turn your dilema into something that is "all about them." i think everyone has experienced a friend like that.
a friend is someone who you know you can tell your deepest darkest secret to and not worry about it coming back to you.
a friend is someone who will tell you the truth when you ask them how you look.
a friend is someone you can hardly tell your exciting news to.
someone who is not selfish.

u only find that out when ur in trouble or broke or try to stand up for what u believe in. the friends that stick around and upport u during those times are the true friends

Yes I do, my neighbor came over yesterday when the ex was here, she is a true friend and didn't even want to speak to my ex at all. That's a friend ;o)

They are the ones that stick around even when you´re hurting, even when you´re crying and they are there because they care...when friends are there for you even when you didnt ask them to be, just because they want you to cheer you up when you´re going through tough times, thats how you know they´re your true friends. :)
