They succeeded in that the knights of the first crusade took Jerusalem on New Year's day of 1100. They continued to succeed as other crusades sent knights to re-inforce those already there. In particular, the second crusade sent King Louis VII of France and his queen Eleanor of Aquitaine there. On the third crusade, the German emperor Frederick Barbarossa died in what is now Turkeye. But King Richard I (The Lion Heart) of England and King Philip II Augustus of France went on to supply the crusader states. The fourth crusade went "off the rails" in 1204 in capturing Constantinople and establishing the Latin Empire of Romania.

You say you need help. The crusades were all about re-establishment of christian access to holy places. The crusaders did this in the only way they knew how: By establishing feudal kingdoms in the Middle East and the
Latin Empire of Romania. They established feudalism is "The Assizes of Jerusalem." of 1100. The Latin Empire of Romania adopted this also.

So, they launched the crusades to slow them down. Slowed them down for a couple of years...

They ultimately failed, as they eventually lost the Holy Land and ended up killing almost as many Eastern Orthodox Christians as they did Muslims. They were a dark spot in the history of Christianity, but they have been over for a long time.
