Well one of my friends is relly really shy. She can't even raise up her hand in class because she is so shy. People think she is really weird and rude because when people try to be nice to her she doesn't know how to respond, she just looks away. She doesn't say hi to anyone and if soemone asks her something she just shrugs her shoulders and walks away. But i have gotten to knnow her and she isn't that bad. It's just that I want to help her be moree friendly and at least try to loosen up a bit. What should i do to help her?? Any suggestions or should i just leave her alone and let people walk all over her?

You can help her build up her confidence slowly. Show her what you do and how you feel about certain things. Let her know even if the anwer in class is wrong, at least she tried. And if she always hides and shys away she may miss out on something so great in life it can never again be replaced or duplicated. Maybe a complete makeover head to toe to change her look and extra study time will give her the boost she needs to start on the road to better self esteem and confidence.

You should just continue to be a good friend. She may have trust issues, it's not your job to make her loosen up. Just continue to be friendly and show maybe introduce her to people you know she shares common intrests with

Get into Speech class, Drama, Band or Choir.
Really, these are all wonderful because they "Teach" you to get over that with a purpose.
Best wishes.

I would talk to the Speech/Drama teacher and ask them, they love to recruit folks for projects.

it seems your friend has absolutely no self esteem and it may take her quite some time to trust people as it took for her to trust you. This can be a problem, people aren't that patient in general. One option may be to seek some counselling, this may help her to build some confidence, you don't have to be crazy to see professional people that may be able to help.

Try to include her in activities that you are involved in, invite her out with you and your other friends gathering. The more she is around people the more open and secure she will feel.
