I am going to Italy this summer and I dont know what to wear. What do people in Italy wear? I'm not looking to be exactly like italians, but i already have blonde hair and i am quite pale so i already know i'll stand out. haha. I also cant really afford really expensive designers. I'm 14. Any other information about Italy will be appreciated.

The major differences are the quality and cut of the clothing in Italy. All of the sparkly mall crap and shirts that say "Hottie", "Princess", etc? Leave it home. The baggy jeans, and the jeans that show your crack? Ditto.

Conservative, well-fitting clothing is best for any travel abroad; I'd take some nice jeans, a few pairs of nice pants, and some simple tank tops/t-shirts. If you have a blazer or other simple jacket, it will come in very handy. I first went abroad when I was 14, and I took two dresses, a knee-length skirt, a black pantsuit, some nice solid-color t-shirts, a pair of dressy sandals, and some "fashion" (as opposed to athletic) sneakers.

Pick up a travel guide that's designed for students (Lonely Planet makes some good ones) so that the recommended sites/activities will appeal to you and be within your budget. If you're planning to hit any popular sites (art museums in Florence especially), buy tickets in advance (the guide will have info, or check google) - you'll wait in line all day if you don't.

Italy is a beautiful place and mostly famous for San Gimignano, Manarola (Cinque Terre), Leaning Tower of Pisa, Lake Como,Positano. There’s no fashion police in Rome that will stop you for wearing tank tops, shorts, or mini skirts, but many churches will prevent you from walking in under-dressed (www.dressspace.com).
