I agree with "Rohak", the movie isn't very informative, and its mainly fiction. (Although there was a car onboard...) But I'd like REAL historical facts. *Thanks*

Thank you for all of your help!!! I did my own research but it was in vain. (Had alot of info just not the ones I wanted.) I also find "Wikipedia" to be very UN-reliable, ANYBODY can edit/ add things that are false, but thanks anyways!!!
If you have anymore facts/ info please feel free to poste them, or the links to which you got it from. Thanks to everyone!!!

Here's something ! The Titanic was never christened !!
Apparently, that was the usual protocol for the White Star Line.
http://library.thinkquest.org/20502/data/inf1frames.html
the only other thing I could find is that Ismay's wife did the actual "naming"...
http://www.titanic-whitestarships.com/TandOWSS%20FAQ.htm
I apologize..I gave you the wrong link for the "naming". Actually, I was wrong. It was during the "launching" that Ismay's wife very quietly said a prayer in lieu of the "naming" of the Titanic. Of course, now I can't find the website ! sorry !

According to Wikipedia the titanic was never christened.
WIki has alot of information about the Titanic and the issues and legality of it all.
About Christening: "It is customary to christen a ship when it first is launched. Today we christen a ship wit h a bottle of champagne but in ancient times, human blood, obtained from a sacrifice, was used. It is considered unlucky if the bottle of champagne doesn’t break. It is bad luck to name a ship with a name that ends in an “A” (perhaps the builders of the Andrea Doria should have heeded this warning). It is also considered bad luck to rename a ship." From projo.com
Hope this helps.

I don't know what year it was named, but it was likely named long before it was built. The christening is the ceremony where they name the ship officially. I believe it usually coincides with the ship's launching.
And do not expect any relevant information from the Titanic movie. It is a work of fiction and ignores historical fact when it interferes with the story.

a good purchase. The R.M.S. great replaced into the sister of two different British White celebrity Liners competeing with Cunard Line's Mauertania and Lusitania. Her sister ships the HMHS Britanic, initially named the great till sources rights have been lost whilst it sunk and the RMS Olympic. The great set sail on April 10th, 1912 for her maiden voyage led by making use of the nicely enjoyed Captain Edward John Smith approximately to retire. It sunk after superb an iceberg in the freezing Atlantic, April fifteenth, 1912. The survivors have been picked up by making use of the Carpathia, i've got forgotten its info. The great did destroy in 2 between the 0.33 and fourth funnels, (the fourth smokestack funnel on the strict end replaced into certainly a pretend. built to emphasise length). i ought to bypass on continuously. The action picture replaced into based upon info, making use of Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater at 17 years of age, and Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson, at 2 a protracted time of age. Accuracy performed an substantial function in the director James Cameron's plan.

I guess doing your own research would be best - check out some REAL documentaries that don't involve a love that would never happen. 'Titanic' is one of the most unreliable movies and is nothing compared to the real story. The only good thing in that whole movie is the C.G. ship.

The "Olympic"-class liners were conceived by the White Star Line and Harland & Wolff shipyards in 1907; the Titanic's keel was laid on March 31, 1909, and her name had been assigned by that time (photos of her construction show a large sign in front of her with her name already on it.) Therefore, she must've been named between 1907 and early 1909.
