The first mechanical computer I've heard of was invented by the British during World War 2 for code breaking.

The internet is an offshoot of a military project to provide a communications network between far flung bases.

The media has been around since the first newspaper and town criers shouting the news.

It's hard to answer those questions because these things were invented in stages. The internet might be said to have been invented in 1991 by Tim Berners-Lee. The computer is more of a grey area but you might want to look into the work done by Alan Turing towards the end of the Second World War and for the first few years after.

I'm not sure what you mean by "media". My dictionary says "various forms of mass communication". In other words something capable of reaching many people. Therefore, you might want to look at the printing press. This was developed independently in both China and Europe, but the name to investigate is possibly Johannes Gutenburg who invented "movable type" printing in the 15th century. This allowed for the first mass production of pamphlets and books.
