I signed up for many sites to be in independent movies, commercials, etc., and the sites are all free to make a resume and send in your headshot. I gave them my cell phone number and one person called me to take headshots at 12:00. Is it a scam, or is it real?

The guy that called me had this really thick accent (preferably Spanish or French) and her was like stammering (not sure what to say). He said that his number was 825-217-actors45 or something, but I couldn't really tell because of his thick accent.

BE CAREFUL!

although there are legitimate folks out there, there are also a lot of people who will take advantage of people who are looking for their big break. I would get head shots done by either a professional listed in the phone book or through word of mouth.

again, just a word to the wise... be very careful.

How much do they want? I always hired my headshot photographer. I never got a call. I don't know enough details to give a good answer. If you feel comfortable with this person and the price is fair then there's no reason not to do it.
But there are many scammers out there so be careful.

I would be careful. If you are female, take a male friend with you. Sometimes a photographer may need to shoot a certain 'type' to round out his or her portfolio but they should not object to you bringing someone along for your safety. Please please please take a friend with you if you choose to go and make sure a few people have all the information of who you are going to meet, where, when, and when you should be back. Give them details like the photog's name, text someone his car info when you see it if you can... I'm just remembering what happened to Linda Sobek a few years ago. I don't think you can be too careful!!!

It depends. It was probably real, but it could be a scam.
