It's not uncommon to occasionally forget dates or lose items, this in itself is not a dementia symptom, and these events tend to become more common as we grow old.
However, while occasional memory slippage may be a normal consequence of getting older, dementia and Alzheimer's disease is not. If memory problems interfere with one's day-to-day activities, this may be part of dementia symptoms and it may be time to seek a doctor's help.
It's important to understand and be vigilant for the early warning signs of dementia and Alzheimer's and to seek a professional medical diagnosis if several dementia symptoms are noticed.
Often, at the early onset of Alzheimer's or dementia, a family member or close friend will notice a change in a person's behaviour or mood. These people should ensure that the person gets immediate medical care.
Hope this helps and vote for it if you decide to seek further help!!

Figure out handy ways to memorize information. It's better if your plan makes sense to you, so it's better if you make up your own methods.
1. I have my students sing songs about the concepts they have trouble with. This really helps. They can remember the songs.
2. Make up pictures that help or stories that help.
3. Learn the word parts or word roots of the vocabulary. Then you can tie new vocabulary to words you already knowl. This is a trememdous help.
4. Ask your friends or teachers how they recommend that you remember the material. Sometimes you can put all your ideas together and find something that really works for you.
Don't forget to go over your notes soon after class, again that evening, and again the next day. These repetitions will help you remember with far less effort.
