How's about a Dogzilla, Sweetie?? They would make a cute, cuddly pet for a Sweet Thang like you!! :))

I have two suggestions for you. First, read the book "Are You the Pet for Me?: Choosing the Right Pet for Your Family" by Mary Jane Checchi. It's available from Amazon and is in many public libraries. It provides an excellent overview of what's involved with caring for pets of many different species.

Second, check with your local animal shelter to see if it does adoptions of exotic animals. Many animal shelters have exotics of all kinds available. The shelters closest to me frequently have iguanas, degus, parrots, etc., available. If you adopt an exotic pet from an animal shelter, you'll likely be saving the animal's life, and you'll also save money. If the shelter you go to does adopt out exotic pets but doesn't currently have the type you want available, ask if there's a waiting list. Many shelters maintain these lists so that as soon as an exotic pet comes in, the staff can call people on the waiting list and have the pets adopted out quickly.

One thing you may want to consider is fostering exotic pets for an animal shelter instead of outright adopting them. The advantage to you is that you can "test drive" a variety of pets without making a decades-long commitment. The advantage to the pets is that they won't be euthanized at the shelter due to a lack of space. I'm a foster mother for one of the shelters in my city, and it's an exhausting but very rewarding experience.

A chameleon. The name means "Earth lion". They don't move fast so they can't get a way from you. With a tongue that is about 2 1/2 times their body length it is fun to watch them eat. Some are very expensive and they are not real easy to take of.

I'll give you a nice list, but research prior to purchase/adoption is required!
-ferrets
-sugar gliders
-rats
-chinchillas
-parrots(there are MANY varieties to suit your lifestyle)
-skunks(check for legal issues with this in your state)
-degus
-tarantulas
-scorpions
-tree frogs
-saltwater fish
-turtles and tortoises
-fennec foxes
There are many others, but this is just a starter list. Remember, many exotic pets require more than just the basic care of your regular dog or cat. Ferrets in particular are very high maintenance(but I love them!)!

You should definately try an iguana, ferret, gecko, trantula, or some salt water fish!

Hope you find the right exotic pet!

You should get a Iguana... They get up to 5 ft long.. They are very smart and kind animals. But, not at first. You just have to handle them a lot but, you prob. know that b/c you already have a snake..

as an owner of several exotics... a raccoon, coatimundi, skunk... I'd have to say... stick to one that doesnt mind being in a cage...
Mine are not caged.. as they would hate it.. and they would hate me also! They have run of the house and its constant cleaning... constant repairing... poop thrown all over...
from the coati!
hair everywhere...
The cleanest of the three is the skunk..
alot of people buy these critters and dont want them anymore... thats how I got them.... its very sad.. but they have all adapted well here and love it!
