My hamster recently died and I was wondering if I should bury him or cremate him.

I wouldn't cremate him, I heard you can take it to the vet and they will do it there.

That is totally up to you. There are pet cemeteries that do that and maybe vets offices that do it-cremation. The cemeteries obviously do both. I am not a personal fan of being buried, so I would have him cremated. It's a personal decision-up to you. Nothing strange about cremation of your pets. I know many people who have it done (their pets) and I plan to when the time comes. Sorry to hear about your hamster.

It takes very intense heat to properly burn a body. It would be much easier to simply bury the hamster. If you can generate the heat and provide the fuel and take the proper safety precautions, then go ahead and cremate the body. Otherwise, you'll just heat the body without properly burning it. That might not look or smell too good and you'll still have to deal with the remains as a body.

to cremate s to cheat nature and you break the cycle of life
death should feed life and be a contiuous flow with out interuption,
bury the hamster and plant a fruit tree o top
the hamster will feed the tree ,and the tree will help in the production of humidity, gave shade and be involved in regulation the temperature ,

if the whole world did this we would have less so buriel and planting is the only moral solution.

Well, if you cremate him, there would only be about a teaspoon of ashes, less if it was a dwarf hamster. Very expensive. I'd go with a burial. Then you can make a grave marker like my daughter did for hers.

Well, you look in the phone book for a pet cremation center, and see how much it would be. Or you can go ahead and bury your critter.

You could do either of course and that is your decision. If it were me I would bury the little fella..then you can put flowers there occasionally or plant a rose bush or some other flower on top of the grave and you will have a memorial for him. Sorry for your loss of the little guy.

You'd need a super hot fire to do the job right--hotter than you could probably make yourself.

Just bury him in a shoebox, and put some rocks on top to keep predators from digging him up.

Why not wrap him in a tiny cloth, place him on a toy boat, and put it on a small lake, or pond? Set the boat on fire, and give the noble rodent a Viking funeral. It's original, dignified, and all of the other deceased hamsters in heaven will be envious of his heroic ceremony.
